Internet Dating Scams and How To Avoid Being Scammed- part 2

Internet Dating Scams and How To Avoid Being Scammed- part 2

Last week we were talking about the tell-tale signs of a scam. This one is a big tell-tale sign and the scammers must be really thick to have not realised this… but yes they often are (not too bright). She will usually in the first message give you her personal email address, usually a .ru address…and that is fine in itself, but of course she wants to be able to maintain contact if she gets her account closed on the dating site due to previous or other complaints, using someone else’s photo etc, or just plain not wanting to have the site recording their scam for possible later prosecution. But writing direct to her email is actually good as when she replies direct to yours, you can see the file-name of the photos she sends you. The dead give-away is when the photo file-name is in English. You have to ask yourself why would a native Russian speaking woman label her photos in English, and with her own name, eg Elena.jpeg, like mother like daughter.jpeg, Elena B&W.jpg, posing.jpg etc etc. Why would a Russian native speaking woman name her photos in English and in such a way? Why would she name it her name instead of ‘me’ or some-such, and of course whatever ‘me’ is in Russian. Think about it. Don’t these file names sound like the names you would use if you were using a series of identities and labelled appropriately to quickly and easily select the appropriate identities. This one clue screams fraud right away. Photo names should either be Cyrillic which you can’t read, or be standard camera naming depending on the camera used with some letters and numbers such as DCxxxxx. So if she sends you photos with file-names in English, prepare to be scammed…End of.

More tips on how to tell if you are being scammed next week.

Arn’t all foreign dating sites just scams? Are there any that have real woman on them? Be careful guys. Don’t go for the first result in Google, or worse click on an advertised link. And never respond to any unsolicted email spam no matter how good she looks!
